Jiří Jirmal (CZ)
Jiří Jirmal is an internationally recognized pedagogue, author of the most popular guitar textbook (and a great number of other publications about music) and a successful composer. Thanks to the successes of his pupils in the most prestigious guitar competitions around the world, we can speak of the so called Prague School of Guitar Playing. For many years Jirmal had been teaching at the Prague conservatory along with his continuous teaching involvement at the Saarbrücken Music College. In 2005 a concert was held at the Prague Castle attended by the President of the Czech Republic on the occasion of Jirmal's eightieth birthday. At the end of 2008 he released his already fifth CD under the title Classical Guitar Jazz Performances. Last year he celebrated another important anniversary - 65 years on stage.
